There's a way to safeguard wildlife, increase your retirement income and get a tax deduction. A National Wildlife Federation gift annuity is a simple contract between you and NWF. It's a smart way to receive retirement income at an attractive, fixed rate of return – either right now, or in the future.
Here's how it works:
- You make an irrevocable gift to NWF using cash or securities
- NWF gives you and/or another person fixed payments for life
- You may claim a federal income tax deduction
It's that simple.
What if I'm 50?
A Deferred Gift Annuity is a popular way to supplement future retirement income. You transfer the assets now, get a tax deduction right away and set a future date to begin payments. By delaying the payments, you receive higher annuity payments and a higher tax deduction now, the year you create your annuity.
What if I'm 65 (or better)?
A Charitable Gift Annuity supplements your retirement income right now. Aside from the federal charitable deduction, you'll also save capital gains tax when using appreciated stock to fund your gift annuity. Income is paid to one or two annuitants at a rate based on the beneficiaries' ages when the gift is created.
What if I'd like income for another person (or both of us)?
You may establish a gift annuity to benefit a loved one such as a friend, parent or child. In this case, you receive the charitable deduction and they receive the lifetime income. You may also establish a two-life gift annuity to benefit you and your spouse.
